    Description

Genuine antique map "Thietmarsia" by Abraham Ortelius from "Epitome Theatri Orbis Terrarum" published in Antwerp in 1609. This charming 400 year old miniature copperplate map of northern Germany shows the area between the Eider and Elbe Rivers on the coast of the North Sea with imaginative detail of waterways and coastline. Cities are illustrated with castles, forests as individual trees and the rivers are stippled. A sailing ship embellishes the bay of the Elbe River. Latin text and faint library stamp on verso. North is to the left on this map. Image is in very good condition and measures 3 1/2" x 4 3/4".
