    Description

    "CAMPFIRE WOOD MOUND"
    Original invention by Dominic Marino.
    The drawings show it had a small metal dish that held a flammable liquid scent. The low level blaze would create a camp fire type glow. I can't see how it would not catch fire? ...must have been for a for one time use? The burning of the tiny juniper logs might have created the scent?
    The patent drawings are not included
    but can be found online by searching: Patent 2508959 ~ Dominic Marino's "CAMPFIRE WOOD MOUND Filed Nov. 14, 1945".
    The patent further states: "Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
    1. An incense burner comprising a base, an incense receiving cup in the center of the base, and a mound on the base over the incense cup, consisting of elements of such form and relative arrangement as to stimulate wooden logs of a campfire mound, and being arranged to provide a hollow mound having openings between said elements for the outlet of the smoke of the burning incense, and to provide an opening of such size in the cup and ignited.
    2. The device of claim 1 in which the front and foremost elements of the mound are of arcuate formation with their ends secured to the base to provide an opening below said arcuate formation such that the incense may be placed in the cup and ignited.
