    EXTREMELY RARE VICTORIAN ERA COLLECTIBLE
    Presented for your consideration is this extremely rare, antique, special edition Hudson-Fulton model, No. 2 fretless guitar zither, produced for the Hudson-Fulton Celebration, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Hudson River by Henry Hudson in 1609, and the 100th anniversary of
    the first successful application of steam to navigation on the Hudson River by Robert Fulton in 1807
    , made in Jersey City, New Jersey, by the fine artisans and craftsmen at Menzenhauer - Oscar Schmidt, c 1907-09.
    Artwork and graphics, specifically designed for this Special Edition Hudson Fulton model is sharp, clear, and colorful, depicting a nautical scene of a ship with large masts on upper left, and graphics around sound hole is stunning and ornate, with two harps at 3 and 9 o'clock positions, and intricate, multicolor designs all around
    Label is present, with 87101 Perry Street, Jersey City, NJ address and Patent date May 29, 1894
    All but one of the 31 strings is present, the one on the far left, and chord graphic is easily readable
    Construction is solid, with a thin hairline crack on front right from sound hole
    There are a few minor cosmetic nicks around some of the edges of the wood, as well as some scuffs on rear and sides, commensurate with age and fine care
    It could use a cleaning and a tuning, as we NEVER clean any of our antiques or collectibles of any sort, as we have found that people are quite particular with respect to their personal preferences regarding cleaning
    We purchased this item from a music store that had closed, along with another Oscar Schmidt zither, and some other rare instruments, including some saxophones and violins
