Description
An outstanding lost wax bronze medallion by well known canine artist and dog show judge Garry (correct spelling) Newton, done for the 1997 World Dog Show held in Puerto Rico. This large three dimensional medallion features a Great Dane and a Pointer dog head study. It was commissioned by Pedigree, the show sponsor. The artist has engraved his name and the date onto the reverse side, please see closeup photo. This piece measures 5 7/8" across and it is solid bronze, so quite substantial and heavy. The two dog head studies are quite striking, posed in front of the famous Castillo San Felipe del Morro fortress tower. Mr. Newton began his interest in dogs with Great Danes and has since become renowned for Salukis and other Sighthound breeds, so the Dane depicted on this bronze has a special connection for him. A fabulous piece for the serious dog collector!
