Antifreeze
Antifreeze hydrometer is designed to determine the freezing point of antifreeze in the engine cooling system of a car. Measurement range from 0C to minus 50C. The basic permissible error limit is ± 5C (at an antifreeze temperature of 20C). To measure, immerse a clean, dry device in antifreeze and allow it to float freely without touching the walls of the vessel. The line of contact of the antifreeze with the rod of the hydrometer corresponds to the value of the freezing point of the antifreeze in 0C (readings should be taken along the lower edge of the meniscus).
Electrolyte
An electrolyte hydrometer is used to prepare an electrolyte of the required density for acid batteries. To measure the density of electrolyte in batteries, you must additionally have a device for taking electrolyte from the battery. Measurement range from 1200 to 1300 (kg / m3). Graduation price 10 kg / m3. The main permissible error limit at a temperature of 20C is 10 kg / m3. To measure, mmerse a clean, dry instrument in the electrolyte and let it float freely without touching the vessel walls. The line of contact of the electrolyte with the hydrometer rod will indicate the value of the electrolyte density in kg / m3 (readings should be taken along the lower edge of the meniscus at a temperature of 20 ± 2C).
