Description
For sale is my High Performance Lazy Susan Tool Caddy. This tool caddy is a repurposed computer hard disk drive utilizing the high performance bearing mounted on the shell of the hard drive as the base for table top stability. The precision bearing rotates the caddy smoother than glass. The spools are free. No hardware is required for assembly unless you want to mount it to a table top. If you want to glue the interface to the spool, that would be your option. This version of the tool caddy is much heavier than the marble based bearing available on my other Ebay listing. As a consequence of 3D Printing, once the filament is used up, the spool is left over. So the question is what to do if anything with these things?
No matter how neat you try to keep your model shop, things always seems to become unorganized across the workspace. So a long time ago I decided that keeping all the small screw drivers of every type, tweezers, files, etc. organized in a tool caddy helped me become a better modeler without wasting time looking for a particular item on one of my many workbenches.
I have 2 or 3 types of spools from Prusa. The newest one is a rather fancy engineering design with many octagonal holes of various sizes. What Prusa Research achieved is a lighter spool that uses less plastic. Thus, I have 2 primary uses in my shop for these. I designed a simple interface for the spools to sit on a Lazy Susan rotary bearing so the tool caddy turns nicely for easy access to grab and use just the right screw driver or file. The secondary use I have for this rotating caddy design is a plain spool used to paint models and easily turn the model as you spray the paint, meaning you do not have to walk around the model to make sure you are getting good coverage. Please specify the plain spool if your intention is to use it to spray paint your models. I also have a plain low profile clear spool available at times.
Printed in various Prusa PETG or PLA filament colors, the bearing mount interface with the spool is sold as is straight off the Prusa Printer build plate, all sales final no returns.
