Vintage 1997 Animatronic Singing Sunflower Hidden Nature "You Are My Sunshine"

ANIMATED SINGING SUNFLOWER
This singing sunflower was given to me many years ago as a funny gift.
It has spent almost all of its life inside the box and I’m hoping it can find a more appreciative home.
There are a few problems with it that may or may not be fixable.
It is beyond my understanding of animatronics…but I will include the batteries it currently has in it which I used to make sure it still worked and to detect the problems I note below. From What little research I've done, it is a fairly rare toy.

It is a large sunflower in a plastic pot made by Hidden Nature and called “Sunny”.
It was made in China and has the date 1997 on the box.

The sunflower is about 18” tall but that is a really rough approximate since its stalk is curved.
(The box indicates one should be able to adjust the stalk, but it keeps going back to the curved shape.)

The pot has a switch with 2 settings beside the off and they are hi and low indicating the volume setting for when the sunflower starts singing.

It has a motion detection “window” at the front and begins singing when it detects movement.

It sings “You Are My Sunshine” and while it does, the eyes light up and the mouth moves.
The box says the leaves move too, but they do not.
There may be a bit of inconsistency in the way the mouth and eyes move and light up, but they do move and light up.

The face has a diameter of about 4 ½” not including the yellow petals which are a stiff fabric of some kind.
The face is a plush brown.
It comes with the original box which is in really nice condition.

The green backing on the sunflower is “vented” but there may be an extra slit or two.
Not sure if these were original or meant to be there.
It has not had much use so really doubt it is from manhandling.
