A vintage glass souvenir miniature mug from Virginia City, Montana. This is not your typical antique RED FLASHED mug but a newer version of that old style, put out by the Federal Glass Co.
The Federal Glass Company was established in 1900 in Columbus, Ohio and by the 1920's they were one of the foremost companies in the production of cheap machine-made tumblers and jugs. During the 1930's Federal was one of the leaders in the production of machine pressed, mold etched colored dinnerware. Federal remained active in the production of glassware for many years but by the late 1970's Federal Glass closed its doors. I would guess this little mug was from the 1950 - 1960 era, just a guess. It is pre-1970 anyway. The nice red/pink top and cut-glass look to the bottom make it a beautiful combination,
and it is even nicer that it has Virginia City, Mt. on it with the 'Founded 186
3' date
